The story revolves around three sisters — Ai (the oldest), Mai (a teenager), and Mii (the youngest) -- their maid, Mea (rendered by some as Mare), and a white ferret named Unagi, as they travel through time searching for a flower called "popotan". Their bodies and time-clocks are connected to a mansion, which they live in, and which also is the vehicle that allows them travel through time.Every time they 'travel', they go five years into the future.
Ai (あい, Ai?) Voiced by: Sayaka Ohara (Japanese), Nicole Oliver (English)
Ai is a motherly sister. 18-years-old. She is the oldest of the three and is recognized by her hat, green hair, and breasts. She is reminded often by her youngest sister that she has large breasts. She also has the unique ability to speak to plants. Because of this talent, she spends a lot of time talking to the tanpopo (dandelions) which she calls "popotan", and they guide her on her family's quest.
Ai is an awful cook, but that unfortunately doesn't stop her from doing the cooking anyway. The main character, Daichi, surpisingly likes her food...but he's alone in his culinary tastes. Ai has a heart of gold, is always ready to help others out, and seems to be the de-facto caretaker of the sisters' pet ferret, Unagi. She also loves bubblebaths. She has one character song named "Ai no Sekai" Sung by her Seiyu, Oohara Sayaka.
Mai (まい, Mai?) Voiced by: Masumi Asano (Japanese), Nicole Bouma (English)
Mai is a tomboy-ish girl and is the middle sibling. 14-years-old. She is recognized by having pink hair and wearing sporty looking clothes. She is constantly reminded that she is flat chested and has a short fuse. Early in the season she was acknowledged for having problems with constantly moving and was accidentally left behind for 5 years in a small town where she noticed that she would not grow when not in the house.
Mii (みい, Mii?) Voiced by: Momoi Haruko (Japanese), Jocelyne Loewen (English)
Mii, the youngest and most energetic. 11-years-old. Recognized by either her purple hair or the fact that she changes into her magical girl costume in nearly every episode after it appears. She has a knack for noticing plushy things and constantly touches things that are, including people and breasts.
Mea (メアー, Mea?) Voiced by: Mai Kadowaki (Japanese), Anna Cummer (English)
Mea, the maid, is actually an android and therefore is not actually a sister. She is recognized by her scarlet hair and headphone shaped object on her head. She has an amazing appetite and (like Mai) is reminded that she is flat chested.
Unagi (うなぎ, Unagi?) Voiced by: Ayako Kawasumi (Japanese), Tabitha St. Germain (English)
Unagi, the ferret, is found usually around Ai as she introduces the next episode as a young girl and seemingly afraid of Mii.
Konami (小奈美, Konami?) and Mai (まい, Mai?) Voiced by: Tomoko Kawakami
Konami is the dearest held friend of Mai. She eventually had a daughter who she decided to name Mai.
Nono (のの, Nono?) Voiced by: Sakura Nogawa
Nono might be considered as one of Mii's closest friends. Nono is a shrine girl. She is shy and seems to care deeply about her grandfather, who is very strict when it comes to training. She could be recognized by her blue hair and common shrine clothing.
Daichi (大地, Daichi?) Voiced by: Yuki Kaida (child), Voiced by: Kenichi Suzumura (adult)
Daichi is a very kind and protective person. He is the first person seen in the anime. He goes out of his way to help his friends. He was treated kindly by Ai. As an adult his daughter takes a picture at the beach and he sees the house where the girls lived. He goes to see them, where later on he is attacked by Keith.
Keith (キース, Keith?) Voiced by: Yuuji Takada
Keith refers to himself as the guide and seems to have special abilities similar to the girls. He is recognized by his white hair and business looking outfit.
Shizuku (雫, Shizuku?) Voiced by: Rumi Shishido
Shizuku is the reason for the travels and journeys the girls have had. Shizuku can be recognized by light green hair and her only article of clothing is a poncho.
